Moved!

Sorry I haven't blogged on here for a while. I've made a new blog (yes, I know, I know...) on Tumblr. You can find it at http://www.kayblue10.tumblr.com

I might blog here occasionally, as Tumblr is more to do with my Youtube. I'll keep this bookmarked, I can promise that :)

New Laptop!

So, on Wednesday the 2nd of June my computer broke. Strangely, it kind of set me into a good mood.

Then, on the 9th June, my 15th birthday, I got a laptop!

Tada!

Yay for short blog posts!

Ratchet And Clank PS2/PSP Short Reviews

Ratchet and Clank was, I can easily say, the game series of my childhood. I loved (and still love) the heck out of it.

I was watching a few Let's Play's last night of Ratchet and Clank and realized how much I miss the series (I don't have a PS2 anymore, yet still have 100+ games.)

I now want a PS2 for my birthday.

So I decided that until then I'd write a review about the first five games (I'll be using the UK names!) which are:

Ratchet and Clank
Ratchet and Clank 2 - Locked and Loaded
Ratchet and Clank 3 - Going Commando (I think - it's been a while)
Ratchet 4 - Gladiator (Though because of the internet I now think of it has Deadlocked)
Ratchet and Clank - Size Matters (PSP one, though I heard they ported it to the PS2.)

Let's begin.

Ratchet and Clank 1:

Completed: Once

I first got this game when I was about seven. I wanted something completely different (and got it) but when I unwrapped this I thought it was going to be a pretty bad game (ironic, eh?).

When I started the game up and got into it, I found that I loved it more than the game I wanted (and got). I was in heaven.

However, like all games, I lost interest after a while and started playing something different. It wasn't until I'd completed number two that I went back and completed number one.

The gameplay was a good cross of platformer and shooter, with lots of creative enemies and levels. I liked how it could last a long time. But that was about it. Number one still isn't high up on my list of most loved games - it stilled seemed kind of ordinary.

Then Locked and Loaded came along.

Ratchet and Clank 2: Locked and Loaded:

Completed: Four times, maybe more!

I might just as well tell you that this is pretty much my favourite game of ALL TIME. No kidding.

When I got Ratchet and Clank 2 and started playing it, my childhood was complete. Well, maybe I wouldn't go THAT far...

I loved how the weapons could upgrade, how the levels were still unique and the monsters still weirdly amusing. I loved the storyline, the jokes, the better feel this game had to it. I even loved Fizzwidget! (that last part was a joke, people.)

I completed this game so many times and would have gone on to complete it more if I still had a PS2.

Ratchet and Clank 3 - Going Commando:

Completed: Almost once.

This is the only game out of all five I'm reviewing that I didn't complete. It is also many people's favourite, but for some reason I can't quite put my finger on I don't like it as much as the rest.

I didn't like how weapons could upgrade five times - again, I don't know why. I thought they should change appearance every time they upgraded, I guess.

I got to the last level of this game, but then Gladiator came out and I kind of abandoned it.

Ratchet - Gladiator:

Completed: Twice

Many people don't like Ratchet Gladiator because it kind of "forgot it was a platformer".

I still loved it, but in a different way. I was growing up a bit by the time I got this game, so if it had been a couple of years before, I'd have hated it.

However, I still preferred this to number three. I liked the cage stages in 1 and 2, and this was pretty much all that and a few levels inbetween.

One thing I have to admit, though.

The look of that armour was badass.

Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters

Completed: Once

I got this for the PSP after my age of Ratchet and Clank. I found it awesome and refreshing, but it was kind of missing something. Some of the old Ratchet and Clank slipped away.

I think some other developers had a hand in this one (don't kill me if I'm wrong!) but this went back to the gameplay that Gladiator had forgotten.

I also found it a bit harder because halfway through my second play I got stuck.

And then lost the USD.

So there are my short reviews of Ratchet and Clank.
Yay!

Youtube Birthday, KB10 Near Anniversary, Subscribers and My Juggling Act!

So today was Youtube's 5th anniversary. It made me realize that I've almost been on Youtube for 3 years, and if Youtube continues to grow and prosper my channel will be seen as one of the old ones! Here's hoping, eh?

Anyway, what to blog about? I recently reached 200 subscribers on Youtube - if you are one of my subscribers reading this, thanks for subscribing! I feel that I don't say that nearly enough.

200 subscribers over almost three years - some people would say that's terrible, because there are some out there with over a million. But just think about it. Two Hundred individual people, living people like watching my videos.

Of course, if you have thousands this is like nothing to you >.< but still, it's a milestone I'm happy in achieving.

I've noticed that my subscriber count has actually gone up recently. This is probably because my channel is in fellonthedoorproject's featured channels box and he's quite well known, so if he's reading this, I thank him too!

I know I'm due to make a video. I was going to make one this weekend, but I got wound up in other things, and I'll probably not be making videos on weekdays because of school will have made me tired. Sorry!

You also have to realize that videos aren't the only thing I contribute to the internet - I'm also a person who's expected to make poetry, stories, artwork, be active on three different forums, be active on tons of games (I let people down alot there) AND I'm a fourteen almost fifteen year old doing his GCSE's!

So yeah, that's a lot to do. I should probably cut back a bit, but I don't really want to.

No Handlebars Definition

I know this won't make good reading, but I want to do it anyway.

As you can see, this is the song "Handlebars" by the Flobots. It came out a few years ago, but I've been meaning to do this for a while.

To me, this song is a story of how two friends part ways and live in different conditions. Some time later, they call each other.

For the purpose of this blog post, peaceful friend will be called Bob, and the leader guy Jim. Bob calls Jim telling him how great and peaceful his life is, and how he can be part of the community and have a fun time.

Jim then tells Bob about how profitable his life his, how he has presented products and ideas and moved up through the world to become a big businessman. Bob isn't too happy about this.

Later on, Bob sees Jim on the TV, dictating as a politician. He appears to be talking about how he can split an atom and how this is the way forward. He puts video camera everywhere and, in the video, knocks down the walls of peace.

This makes Bob angry, so he and his community band together to stop his old friend, now mad with power. They march through the city, and...

I'm not quite sure what happens at the end. Either Jim orders his men to shoot and sees Bob leading them just afterwards, or he sees Bob leading them, tells his men NOT to shoot but they disobey him.

Anyways, I think this song is meant to represent how life is turning out to be for some people. Well, with Barack Obama it looks like this will be averted... but in a way it's already happened.

For this reason I love this song.
And it sounds good too!

Polling Day

Well, today in Britain is polling day.

We have a choice - we can vote for:

Boredom Brown (Labour)
Davy Camcorder (Conservative)
Nick Pleb (Liberal Democrats)

I am not going to give out who I support on here, because I do not wish to start a politcal argument. God knows we have to many anyway.

I have to admit, I'm kind of annoyed at Youtube (tell us something we don't know) because they seem to be favoring the Conservatives - they have featured videos of David Cameron saying "Labour have failed" and whatnot.

I'm not annoyed because it's the Conservatives they favor - it's because they favor anyone at all! Youtube should not be biased!

But that's way down on Youtube's list of problems.
They are not in my good books at the moment (although I don't mind the new video layout.)

Because it's polling day, many ordinary places have been turned into polling stations - even one of my school buildings. But what puzzles me is how they making polling stations out of churches.

Isn't that blasphemous?
(Do not say the obvious.)

They even posted a poster saying "POLLING STATION" over a poster about Jesus. Imagine if a poster was saying, "Jesus died for your sins". It would become, "Jesus died for your POLLING STATION"!

In other news, I will be looking around blog designs and possibly changing this one.
Also, sorry I haven't posted a blog for a while.

Whining About Work

So I have a ton of work to do.

ICT used to be interesting, and I still like it (kind of), but it's becoming a pain in the ass, because after we've done the bit of work we have to, we've got to update our ongoing plan saying what we did, put a link to it on our eportfolio website (after changing it to .html or .pdf), and backup our work. I also have a lot of homework to do, and probably have to change every single date on my Ongoing Plan.

In Science, tomorrow, we're going to write up our next piece of coursework, which I have done nothing for and need to get done and printed tonight. With a snag - I have no printer. I am also not doing very well in Science and it is essential I get a good grade.

I think it's safe to say, I'm fucked!

And yes, I know it's my fault, that I shouldn't procrastinate, and if I finally get a comment that's just telling me off I am going to HIT something. XD

And the reason I'm putting this in a blog is because... well, I want to update my blog more, I guess. And if anyone's wondering, I'm 14 (nearly 15) and I'm in Year 10 doing GCSE's. I don't think you do them in America so I'll just say they're important exams that influence my future.

Also, try listening to Lostprophets, they're my newest find in music.

Taymar Town Complete

I think I've pretty much finished editing Pallet/Taymar Town, and I've got two screenshots. This first one is a comparison between the new one and the original.

The original is on the bottom right, the new one is top left. I should have cropped the picture but it's too late for that now.

The pokemon you can catch in the long grass are all level 100 (it's meant to be silly, route's will be sensible) are this:

Raichu
Venusaur
Charizard
Blastoise
Pidgeot
Slowbro
Deoxys
Chimecho
Jirachi
Persian
Fearow
Alakazam

And these are the movement allowances I've used (for proof that it works):

Am I good, bad or average?

Editing Summary

Two posts in a day?

Anyway, I just went and carried out my plan for Leaf Green (now called Editopia. Only the file name, though.) I spent quite a while editing Pallet Town - http://twitpic.com/18ez2p - even though it doesn't really look like it.

This is because I had to check it, redo bits, check it again, redo it again, etc etc. Trial and error is one of the best ways to learn.

And Pallet Town is now called Taymar Town.

Soon I'll make some long grass and have Rayquaza catchable in the lake, maybe find out how to add hidden items... but I need a break >.> and it's almost midnight.

But I'll carry on editing, just every now and then.

Game Editing!

Sorry I haven't posted for a long time. Anyway.

I have started to become interested in game editing, hacking, moderating or designing.

This all started when I discovered Pokemon World Online and saw that they had edited a couple of maps in the Kanto region (and completely remade the Johto region, of course). I thought it would be cool to go looking for a map editor.

I came across Advance Map Editor (something like that, anyway). I played around with the Fire Red ROM a bit, and taught myself the basics - either I'm a natural, or it's not that hard.

However, I tried connecting a map with another map, which... I shouldn't really have done, because it corrupted one of my save files. One of them. Sadly, this was my main one, but luckily, I'd only redownloaded it recently and hadn't got very far yet.

So I then thought, with if I downloaded the Fire Red ROM again, and only edited one of them? Then I could keep the other for the real game purposes. I thought this was a good idea and almost went ahead with it until I realised it would probably play havoc with my saves.

So what I've now decided to do is download the Leaf Green ROM and edit it to my heart's content, while keeping Fire Red (even though it is a little damaged) for the real game. This will no play with my saves because they are, technically, two different games.

I will post my progress (if there is any) in this blog, and, who knows, it might just be the gateway to me becoming a games designer.

Sunday, Super Sunday

It's Sunday, it's sunny, I'm download a patch for WoW, I got 2nd three times in a row on a server of about 36 people in Trackmania Nations... what's not to be happy about?

WELL... I have to find out how to temporarily remove firewall to continue patching WoW.

And I've never gotten first on Trackmania Nations :S I was in first place for most of a race, then, with five seconds until the end... "Blah blah blah has taken first place".

But I'm still in a very good mood.

Actually, checking the downloader, the firewall only seems to be slowing it down a little bit. Heh.

If I'm able to play World Of Warcraft again, I will. I don't care. I'm not going to log on every day, see the icon on my desktop, feel the nostalgia and try to ignore it because I'm worried about getting addicted to it. Life's to fun.

I just hope the private servers don't NEED Wrath of the Litch King, or I'm screwed unless I can find a Pre-Wotlk or Pre-BC server.

It feels good but nerdy to talk about WoW again. And now I'm wondering if I should download Steam.
Or Xfire.

But I really really shouldn't!

I mean really really really shouldn't!

I know they won't do any damage to the computer, but there's two things:

1) Memory, haven't checked how much this comp has.
2) I'm not supposed to download anything anyway. That isn't a strict rule (and, heck, I've already broken it with TM Nations) but I shouldn't do it anyway.

I think I'm only just starting to come to terms with having the internet back. Most days I play TM and Roblox, but now I'm starting to see the bigger picture.

I'm Back At Long Last

Yup, I'm back.
That's about it.

Anyway, my cat won't leave me alone! She sits on my lap ALL the time, and as much as I love her, it's driving me INSANE! I cant type with her on my lap!!!

Also, kb10blog.tk no longer leads here. It's been ditched because I haven't had enough visitors. Nice to know.

Aaaand there's nothing much else to say, other than I've actually been back properly for a week but I've spent all the time on games and none on content-creating.

More Internet Withdrawal Symptoms

I'm in the library.

Just so you know, we got the internet back aaaaaages ago, but now my wireless connector isn't working and I'm finding it impossible to get a new one.

Typical -.-

Happy new year, by the way.

And Christmas.

And - did I already say happy halloween, or did I not have the internet them?

Happy Easter, in advance!

Oh yeah, it's snowing.

Internet Withdrawal Symptoms

It's official. I'm suffering from Internet Withdrawal Symptoms (IWS) as I have not been able to go on the internet for the past 3 weeks or so.

And I still can't, I'm using library computers. So, uh, yeah, I'm not typing much else this entry.

Shortest blog entry ever? Nahhhh.

Four Months And Counting!

Well, as the title suggests, the KB10 blog is 4 months old.

On the 20th.

I'll probably forget to write on the 20th though.

Anyway, I'm pretty happy. I'm not sure anyone reads these posts, but I've been talking to myself for nearly 4 months now.

Did that sound as crazy as I think it did?

The posts might be shorter and less frequent, but hey, it hasn't crashed and burned!

Now, on the subject of short posts.

Bye.

Current Life Summary

So I never really talk about my life outside of the computer. I haven't done it in the past, and, frankly, I'm not starting now. Sorry if I dissapointed you.

Well... okay. A lil' bit.

If you don't already know, I'm a badass 23 year old world famous wrestler who could kill you in a matter of seconds.

...just kidding.

Really:

Never gonna give you up,
Never gonna let you down,
Never gonna run around and-

*Gunshots*

I'm a 14 year old kid with an ugly face and a messy room. I come armed with a computer, an unimaginable imagination, a strange sense of humour and all the artistic talent of a duck! How's that for a snappy summary!

My spacebar is really getting on my nerves -it's not pressing properly...

Anyways.

Yeah.

That's me.

You want more?

Fine.

My life is actually going pretty well at the minute *touch wood*. When I'm not swearing at my computer or being a moody son of a bitch, I'm quite cheerful. And school's going well too. I'm not in any lessons I hate anymore, nor am I in a group of idiots because I'm not good at any of the subjects Ichose.

FUCKING SPACEBAR!!

*Throws keyboard out the window*

Much better. :-)

Never gonna give you up,
Never gonna let you down,
Never gonna-

*BOOM*
*Long pause*
*Shiny polished shoes land on floor*
Hehe.

One Giant Waste of Time?

I've been thinking.

Every time I post a new video I get about 30-40 average views, and maybe a few comments.

Every time I post poetry, I get 1-5 views and usually 1 comment.

Every time I post a story, I get 30-35 average views per chapter, and maybe a message or two from readers.

Every time I post a blog, I get no comments, and I don't even know if anyone reads them. So my point is this:

Am I just wasting my time?

Probably. I make content for the internet to the best of my ability, and still get almost nothing back. I've made a few very good friends, but I always end up letting them down or we just don't talk after a while.

While I enjoy being on the internet, and play some games, I really don't feel like anything I do will make it worthwhile. And that's a downright shame. I'm not complaining about not getting views (not directly), rather how crap I am at making things.

I've always put it down to having a bad computer, but I'm beginning to have my doubts. Hell, I've always had doubts. Pretty strong ones. But I've just kept my head down, ignored them, and carried on relentless.

But sometimes, like now, I just can't help but think there's no point to anything that I'm doing. Maybe I'm the only one who enjoys my content. And it makes me miserable.

I don't have much talent in anything but writing story's and poems, and the computer. But all that has stuff to do with the internet. And seeing as I'm no doing very well, it seems as if I have no purpose in life.

Yes, I am aware that sounds very emo. No, I'm not killing myself or anything crazy like that.

I just wish I could feel noticed.

If You Had Ten Thousand Pounds, New Blog Theme

Firstly, as you may have noticed, the blog now looks different. It may change a few times in the coming hours, though. I like the old-paper kind of look, but not the old-fashioned wallpaper background. Makes it feel like an old lady's page... just a bit.

Anyways, imagine this:

Your family have just won the lottery. £10,000 is shared out between you, and the rest goes in the savings. What would you do with your share?

Tell me in the comments, but this is what I would do with mine:

Buy 2 laptops (one for work, one for personal), maybe a new computer (desktop computers ftw), a HD TV for my room, a PS3, maybe even an Xbox 360, an iPod Touch, get some good games, buy some posters and DVD's, and put the rest in my bank. I wouldn't want have everything I wanted, like every single game, or life would get boring. I don't want that.

Though, I would probably buy Camtasia Studio and Photoshop and stuff like that, and donate some to charity. There probably wouldn't be that much of it left, to be honest.

Now, if we were talking in Millions....
